Well I kind of lost inspiration for this piece near the end, hence why celestia looks so derpy. But my thought process was "BAH, NO ONE WILL ZOOM UP TO SEE HER THAT CLOSE ANYWAY!" so thats why she looks so awful xD And Also i've drawn celestia too much lately I'M SICK OF HER. xD
But anyway, I had a sudden inspiration for this. I really like the idea of celestia x discord, and this particular moment is right before celestia turns him to stone. I feel like discord probably wasn't evil to begin with, he was just misunderstood. He will always be my favourite villain <3
Vision: You did a very good job getting the appearance of Discord: right up to the difference in iris size! Celestia's reflection was really well done through his tears, however, it should be a little more translucent. I'm saying this because if her reflection can be seen through the tears, they should also bee seen through the eyes. Assuming he's looking at her, a very faint reflection of her right on his pupils should make a nice touch. On the lines of tears, they don't seem to be very watery. I would suggest spreading them out around the edges of the eyes with a little more smoothness.
Originality: Not much to say here. This idea is by no means a completely original idea, but what you did to portray the idea is by all means completely original.
Technique: Again, not much to say. In general, this was well put together in terms of technique. If there was anything I could say, it would be to try and keep things smooth. I see a lot of loose lines that could easily be cleaned up and there are some spots where adding some gradient would touch up the piece.
Impact: The biggest thing I see on the impact is that Discord doesn't seem sad enough. The look in his eyes seem more like one of shock rather than remorse, regret or confusion. I would suggest lowering his upper eyelids a bit more; without a mouth—or rest of the face for that matter—showing, you really need to rely on the eyes to display whatever he's feeling.
Discord. Now for critique... The first thing I will say is that this reminds me of Monster by Aviators. And why? It shows Discord moments after Celestia rejects him. Deep. Originality is great, touching on an area that has been in the fandom since introduction of Discord. The technique used here is good, though the tears could use some more work to make them more realistic, and I can see some of the background show through where the lines are more faded. The reflection used in the tears is a good idea however; The eyes themselves are the main focus, and they have great detail, especially in the iris. Impact overall? A very deep and moving piece which does raise the question: Was Discord always evil? You just need to work on the lines That aside, great piece
